I do confess one thing - I've been looking around and getting to play with different applications on my N82, and I've been very impressed with the amount of S60 applications that are available to all users.

Today I'll be reviewing emTube - the integrated Youtube player created for the S60 3rd series devices.

Installation of emTube was a breeze, simply by following the directions on the website. Since the N82 has the built in Flash player, there was no need to install the Flash recognition applications.


The interface after installation is shown above. It's very user-friendly - and everything you would normally access on Youtube is shown in the front page. The videos are grabbed directly off the Youtube site, so everything is live, including the top rated videos and the most viewed.


Searching is probably what most people do in Youtube. After typing in your search terms, the results are shown in the format similar to the above. Somehow it seems to bear a slight resemblance to a certain Apple product, but you don't hear me complaining.


I had the privilege to test the software whilst using a WiFi connection at home, so once I clicked on the video, it loaded almost instantaneously. There was no lag that one would usually associate with video playback, and this is why it feels like an integrated Youtube player. And by the way, did I mention that it supports the accelerometer? Once you flip the phone on its side, it would jump to full screen and start playing - very nice, very impressive.

Overall this is a software that will bring your N82 to new levels of appreciation by those who don't have this phone. Being a free software, it is definitely one of the must-haves by ANY N82 user. Couple this with its excellent support for WiFi as well as HSDPA and you now have a portable Youtube player in your spare time, right in your pocket. Although it currently doesn't support user-accounts nor video upload, if it's got those in as well, you won't have to consider any other phone in existence (Other than the N95 I believe).
