Using the Nokia N82 for casual shots is fine, but what about for some hardcore photography? Apparently there are suppliers trying to fill in the void by supplying the 2 add-ons Nokia N82 users are craving for - a 6X optical zoom lens and a tripod mount. However, even with optical lens and a tripod, it probably remains no match for a dedicated digital camera.

A camera phone was never meant to be a complete substitute for a digital camera, but with this kit the Nokia N82 is getting closer to that aim. Still, the size of the body and the inconvenience to the user will definitely put off all except the most hardcore photography lovers.

The above is a unit on eBay Malaysia going for 83 Malaysian Ringgits (or US$26); its a real shame that the seller is only shipping within Malaysia. Any readers in Malaysia willing to give this kit a try?

Seems that I may have missed quite a bit of information at this year's CES. SanDisk reps have been on hand to show off their new 12GB microSD sticks (albeit only samples rather than real, working ones).

And according to Gizmodo's report at CES, the reps have confirmed that the actual release model of the memory sticks will be the 16GB rather than the 12GB sticks in the summer. Good news for the N82 and the N95 phones, that's for sure.

Be prepared for a very costly memory stick when they're released, though.

This is a video showing the microSDHC and the N82 regarding music performance.

Spotted this in the computer mall on Christmas Day - I guess it was a great Christmas present for myself :)

Right, so down to the review of this product. The 8GB microSDHC card comes with a very tiny and stylish card reader - it reads both microSD cards as well as Sony M2 sticks, so it really is nifty. Good for showing off too.

I took the default microSD card I had from the N82 and copied my files - firstly to my desktop using the card reader - to the new card. 2GB worth of songs went through in a blazing speed, getting everything done well below 5 minutes that I thought it would take. Full marks for speed here - the microSDHC really does live up to its name of high speed.

Next I stuck it in my phone to test in phone performance. I loaded the memory stick with 3.5GB worth of music - about 700 songs, and stuck it in. Upon a fresh boot of the N82, I opened up the Music Player. It took a much longer time compared with a microSD 2GB card - 7 seconds just to get to the menu with Music and Podcasts on it.

Another point I should mention is that loading a song from the songs list takes about 5-6 seconds, probably due to the size of the microSD card. Once the song is loaded, little or no lag is experienced in terms of the sound when you skip to and from other tracks - however, the text does slightly lag. I'll get a video of how bad it is soon.

A little price to pay for massive storage. But 8GB of music and video! This puts it on par with the N95 as the iPhone killers...
