SanDisk has promised 16GB microSDHC cards earlier in the year, and according to this report it's supposed to be out right about...now. Even though we haven't seen much, there's been a few screenshots going around the Internet of the 16GB microSDHC card working on a Nokia E51, a E90 and a N95.
Well, if all 3 Nokia phones can run it, you can be sure it will be compatible with the Nokia N82 as well; that leaves the question of when it will be available. I've been to a couple of stores in the local computer mall and right now the vendors claim that it's going to be for sale in the first week of July at the earliest. No words on prices yet, but I'm definitely going to snap one up 'for a review'. After all, it is extra capacity for music and photos, no?
16GB microSDHC out next month; confirmed for Nokia N82

Posted by xtream | 8.2.08 | Music, N82, Nokia, Tips | 0 comments »I'm pretty sure many users will be gouging their eyeballs out over the simple matter of cover art. Why doesn't it show up on the N82, even though it appears in Windows Media Player? It's so easy on iTunes and the iPod - why doesn't Microsoft make it easier for us to integrate it?
Truth be told, even I wonder about it sometimes. But getting album art to display correctly isn't tedious. And this method applies even if you see the album art in Windows Media Player, but doesn't show up in your N82 Music Player.
Before you do anything, run a Google search and find that cover art of the album you're going to try this on. Save it somewhere - Desktop, My Music, My Documents, your choice - and leave it there until this whole thing is complete. Personally I recommend making a folder and putting all this in, so when you're done, you can just delete the folder. Simple. We'll start with this screen. As you can see, Windows Media Player shows my album art properly on the side with the album details. But it doesn't show up on the phone!
First off, select all the songs in the album. Every bloody song. Then, you right click on the bunch and select "Advanced Tag Editor", and head down to the tab named "Pictures". Click on that "Add" button.
Yep, a dialogue box should pop up. Now go and find that JPEG file you saved, and click "Open".
Now you should see this in your original "Advanced Tag Editor" window. Go and change that Picture type to "Cover(front)". Yes, go and change it. It's essential that you set it to "Cover(front)" and not user defined, because your Nokia N82 Music Player only displays the "Cover(front)" picture type. Click on apply - you should see the familiar window pop up with a progress bar showing that its editing the tags of all the other songs - then your album art should be properly set for your N82.
Now repeat that for every bloody album that doesn't work. Tedious, isn't it?
And don't forget to sync all those songs with your N82. Now you can sit back, relax, and watch in joy - you're rewarded with the album art of your music player changing as you plough through all of your songs.
There has to be a simpler way than this for the next release of Windows Media Player...
